Published

on

The National Assembly Legislative Aides forum ( NASSLAF) has denied claims of payment of Duty Tour Allowance (DTA.)  by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Ojo Olatunde Amos as alleged in a Newspaper Publication by the CNA’s SA on Media and Labour Matters.

NASSLAF while responding to the claims in a Released signed by her Public Relations Officer, Olusoji Olamoyegun, said the alleged payment is a clear and deliberate misinformation of the highest order, as no aides in the 9th National Assembly has received DTA in any form

They stated that the allegation is as misleading as it amounts to insensitivity to the prevailing plights of the Aides who are being denied of several of their entitlements, particularly DTA.

NASSLAF in strong terms condemned the misrepresentation of facts in the public domain by the aide on media to the CNA, and request an official retraction of the distortion that is already creating serious disaffection and anxiety amongst the Aides.

*PRESS STATEMENT ON LEGISLATIVE AIDES DTA*

The attention of NASSLAF EXCO has been drawn to a Newspaper publication dated 16th February 2021 and authored by Mr. Adesoro Tolu Austen, Special Adviser on Media and Labour Matters to the Clerk of the National Assembly.

It was reported in the said article that CNA “has equally settled the once protracted payment of Duty Tour Allowance”.

Whereas we appreciate the kind authorization for payment of the First 28 Days and 2020 Salary arrears by the Clerk, it is a clear and deliberate misinformation of the highest order to have claimed that DTA has been paid.

It is as misleading as it amounts to insensitivity to the prevailing plights of the Aides who are being denied of several of their entitlements, particularly DTA.

For the avoidance of doubt and on our honour as duly elected representatives of the Legislative Aides, we hereby state unequivocally that none of the 9th Assembly Aides has received DTA in any form. Otherwise, let there be a proof to this effect.

Therefore as much as we condemn in strong terms this misrepresentation of facts in the public domain, we request the author to officially retract this grave distortion that is already creating serious disaffection and anxiety amongst the Aides.

Also, it is expected that this public withdrawal would be accorded the urgency it deserves.

Olusoji Olamoyegun

PRO 2, NASSLAF
