A’IBOM INFO COMMISSIONER CHARGES NEW NUJ EXECUTIVES ON DEVELOPMENTAL JOURNALISM.

The new leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has been enjoined to use the platform of the union to orientate its members on productive journalism, which is aimed at marketing the government and people of Akwa Ibom.

The Commissioner of Information, Charles Udoh gave the advice today, Monday 6th August, when the Chairman of the Union, Comrade Amos Etuk led other members of his Executive on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner in the conference room of the Ministry of Information.

Sir Udoh who congratulated the new leadership, pledged the readiness of his ministry to partner with the Union in the drive to boost the information sector in Akwa Ibom State.

Tasking the new leadership on the need to restore the integrity of the union, the Commissioner urged them to work as a team and promote professionalism by discouraging acts of blackmail, mudslinging and campaigns of calumny among members.

The Commissioner encouraged the leadership of the NUJ to advise members on the need to take their editorial decisions based on the overall objective of working for the good of society.

Sir. Udoh hinted that Governor Udom Emmanuel is committed to leaving indelible footprint in the Information Sector of the state He and therefore charged journalists to engage in reportage that will showcase the abundant economic potentials and the developmental strides of government which dots the landscape of the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Amos Etuk assured that his administration will work with concerted efforts to enhance professionalism.

Comrade Etuk mentioned that with the ongoing verification exercise to identify genuine members, said tackling the welfare of the members will be an easy task.
He pledged to partner with the Ministry of Information for the development of Akwa Ibom State.
