iReporters News.

There is no hope of a by project for Akwa Ibom on the cards of the Next Level campaign of the All Progressives Congress led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing a stadium which was nearly empty at the time of his speech, President Buhari failed to acknowledge any progress he had brought to Akwa Ibom in the last three and a half years, and also failed to commit himself to any development in the state if re-elected.

“When we came in there was insecurity in Nigeria and 17 local governments were under the control of Boko Haram, now no local government is being controlled by Boko Haram again,” he said, promising to continue to fight corruption and poverty.

Meanwhile a brawl involving the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Pastor Usani Usani, his supporters  and supporters of the Governorship candidate of APC in Cross River State, Senator John Enoh led to some bloody faces as the Minister narrowly escaped during the onslaught and fled the stadium before the arrival of the president and his entourage.

Usani despite being declared loser in the Cross River APC primaries insists he is the candidate of the party and mobilized his supporters to the venue of the campaign, only to be resisted by John Enoh’s men who easily had the upper hand in the fracas that damaged some facilities at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

The same scenario was witnessed between the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu and the supporters of Great Ogboru, Governorship Candidate of APC in Delta State.

Kachukwu was beaten to a pulp and was only rescued by some security details who whisked him away to safety.

Recently a group, Buhari Movement for Change (BMC) had in an open letter to the President,  alleged that Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, is working hand-in-hand with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to frustrate the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of party flags to the four governorship candidates of the party in the South South states of Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta and Cross River.

One of those who spoke at the event , Minister for Transportation and Director General of the Buhari’s 2019 Campaigns, Rotimi Amaechi said PDP had failed the country for sixteen years, but contradicted himself by saying that Akwa Ibom had enjoyed excellent leadership under Obong Victor Attah and Godswill Akpabio from 1999 to 2015.

Earlier, Governor Udom Emmanuel, accompanied by his deputy Moses Ekpo, former Governor Idongesit Nkanga and other top government functionaries, had earlier received the President at the Victor Attah International Airport.

Governor Emmanuel was massively cheered as he approached the Airforce Plane conveying the number one citizen to the Land of Promise.
