It is 11pm and hundreds of hired people in buses besiege Nsima Ekere’s Ewet Housing Estate residence following failure to pay them for working, (praying) for him under the rains.

Some youths under the aegis of the Christian Youth Leaders Assembly, CYLA had gathered earlier in the day at the Uyo township stadium to pray for the aspiration of the MD of NDDC, Nsima Ekere as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State, as well as the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The event was marred by a torrential downpour that soaked the guests and participants at the event. Security officials barred the youths from using umbrellas to shield themselves from the rain.

Senior APC Chieftains said since the umbrella is considered a symbol of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it should not be used at an APC occasion.

All explanationa by the praying youths that the colour of their umbrella is black, fell on deaf ears as they were ordered to make use of the broom, while every umbrella was confiscated.

In attendance at the event were Senator Godswill Akpabio, his wife Mrs Ekaette Unoma Godswill Akpabio, Atuekong Don Etiebet, Senator Ita Enang, Mr Otu Ita  Toyo, Obong Sunny Jackson,  and the APC State chairman, Mr Ini Okopido among others.

Later that night, the rain drenched youths were seen gathered at the Ewet Housing residence of Mr Ekere to demand their payments, especially after such a rain-soaked outing.

As at 10.45pm, adjourning streets to the MD’s house were blocked to divert traffic from the scene created by the desperate supporters, mostly from neigbouring states, who waited to be demobilized.
