Ninety Eight Unit Women Coordinators and women Leaders across the entire Eket Nation under the auspices of committed women for Udom Emmanuel, has vowed to mobilize support to achieve 100% votes from women for Governor Udom Emmanuel and every other candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming elections.
This was made known in a meeting, held at the instance of the wife of the Paramount Ruler of Eket, Her Majesty, Mrs. Mandu Abia in her palace on Sunday.
According to the host, Her Majesty, Mrs. Mandu Abia, the aim of the meeting was to reunite, motivate and encourage the women to be resolute in their pursuit for purposeful leadership that will guarantee consolidated development for posterity, which is what Governor Udom Emmanuel is doing.
She insisted that the performance of the incumbent Governor, Udom Emmanuel, who is a son of Eket Federal constituency, since saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the affairs of governance in the state is worth to have an all-round support from the women, and as such, made it pertinent for the women of Eket local government to come out with a communique that will state their position ahead of the elections.
Also speaking, the wife of the Commissioner of Health, Mrs. Nelly Ukpong expressed satisfaction in the PDP family, acknowledging the party to be the only party with structures across the state.
Mrs. Ukpong advised all the women to preach the Udom’s gospel to everyone they meet on their way, noting that by doing that it will go a long way to disabuse the minds of those who might have been abused by critics of government that does not see anything good from the many projects undergone by the Udom’s administration.
Also corroborating the position of all the speakers, the wife to the former member, Eket State constituency and member, Ibom power plant, Barr. (Mrs) Jane Ayang, said that the Peoples Democratic Party is a party to be.
She said that Governor Udom Emmanuel came with a vision and passion to develop Akwa Ibom, which has translated into the seeable strides recorded in all sphere of the economy and also complimented the efforts of Her Excellency, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel for touching lives even when the country was in recession.
She reiterated the need to support Governor Emmanuel for a second term, emphasizing that with what the Governor has done in the first term, more dividends will accrue to the people if he is voted into office for a second term.
She also advised women to be fair in their support for the party and not indulge in nocturnal meetings with opposition party at night.
In her remarks, the erstwhile transition Chairman who doubles as Chairperson, Committed women for Udom Emmanuel, Mrs. Abigail Edohoeket, said that it will be very bad for Eket women to support any other person other than Governor Emmanuel, warning that if they do, before power returns to Eket Federal Constituency is will tarry.
She reminded the women about what happened to the Late Clement Isong, who was ousted from office while vying for a second term, advising them to work assiduously to avert a repetition.
Dignitaries present at the meeting are: Her Majesty, Mrs. Mandu Abia (wife of the Paramount ruler) Mrs. Nelly Ukpong, (Wife of the Commissioner of Health) Barr. (Mrs.) Jane Ayang (Wife to the former house member, Eket State constituency), Mrs. Abigail Edohoeket (Former transition Chairman, Eket LGA), Deacones Elizabeth Essien(Former South-South women leader), and a host of other guest to grace the event.
