The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Akwa Ibom State Chapter has confirmed the payment of June 2018 salaries for Local government employees in the state.

In a statement made available to newsmen yesterday, the ALGON Chairman, Hon. Frank Archibong said the delay in the payment was as a result of the discrepancies in revenue remittances that led to FAAC meetings deadlock.

Archibong stated that prompt payment of salaries for workers of both the state and local government is customary in the Udom’s administration, and that there is no way the Governor, who feels the pulses of his people will allow them to starve when the fund is available.

“Everyone is aware that Governor Udom is conscientious, and a man with conscience can’t tallow the people he had sworn to lead, to wallow in hunger and starvation”

“The delay was from the Federal Government, who failed to make funds available for states promptly” – he said.

Archibong, however appealed to mischief makers to desist from painting a picture that is conspicuously false about the government vis-à-vis the welfare of local government workers to the people, noting that it will not achieve its intent to maliciously discredit government to score a political point.

He called on Local Government Workers to continually support the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel with the conviction that the Governor means well for Local Government workers.
