The traditional rulers in Eket has showered prayers, blessing the leading aspirant, Mr. Ekanem Willie in his race to represent the good people of Eket in the House of Assembly, with the hope of taking over from the incumbent, Hon.David Lawrence in the upcoming 2019 general election.

This came during a consultation visit to the traditional rulers council over the weekend by the aspirant, who led his supporters to lay bare his intentions before the ruling class of chiefs.

Speaking at the event, the aspirant said his decision to vie for Eket State constituency seat in the state House of Assembly is because he is embedded with capacity and intellectual ability to deliver on the mandate if given a chance.

Willie stated that for a lawmaker to be able to think out laws that will better his people, such lawmaker must be acquainted with the challenges that is faced by his people.

He maintained that as a grassrooter, he is aware of the immediate challenges of Eket people and he has already procreated  mitigations strategy that will ease their pangs and better their lives.

Willie called for support from the traditional institution, promising them that he will separate briefing from empowerment so that the people will have the opportunity to bring “consistently” their problems to the notice of their lawmaker, which will aid to make laws that will be good for them.

Responding, Etebom Akpabio Ekpoton appealed to the people of Eket to respect zoning of political offices as it is the only way of achieving peace, political tolerance and co existence. He said, Ekanem will give Eket a very good representation and call on all to support his ambition.

In his reaction, the Paramount ruler of Eket, His Royal Majesty E. C. D. Abia, said he has no doubt after listening to the aspirant of his capability to represent Eket people in the house of Assembly.

He urged him to work assiduously to ensure that he emerges the flagbearer of his party.

The monarch, said that previous administrations had marginalized Eket despite her contributions to the growth of the economy.

He said the Udom’s administration is doing so well in Eket, that he is amazed of the many road projects and infrastructural rebirth undertaken by his administration, but acknowledged the slow pace of work in the Urban remodeling, which he maintained will give Eket a facelift on completion.

The Traditional Rulers in unison prayed for the grace to succeed and promised the aspirant of their support at all times.

Present at the event, were the Clan Head of Eket Afaha, Nsobom M. D. Uwem, Clan Head of Okon Clan Area, Etebom Akpabio Ekpoton Nsobom Akpabio Ekpoton, Chief Eshiet, Chief Enim, Ntisong E. U. Ekidem and Chief Solomon Eyire, Chairman, Conference of Village Heads.
