Obio Offot community in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has joined the league of groups in the State to declare support for the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration while endorsing the Governor for a second term in office, come 2019.


Political Stakeholders from the community, made their position known on the occasion of the Town Hall meeting and empowerment programme of the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, in Nung Mkpa, Obio Offot held at the Nung Mkpe Town Hall.


Obio Offot community, which is made up of five units: Nung Akpan, Nung Mkpe, Nung Efa, Atai Obio and Nung Oyo, used the occasion to appreciate the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for appointing their illustrious son into a key position in the state executive council, and promised to give him maximum support come 2019 and beyond.



The political leader of the area, Hon Solomon Udosen; woman leader, Mrs. Theresa Akpan, and Dr Anthony Uwa, in their goodwill messages, expressed appreciation to the Information Commissioner for the show of love and for bringing government closer to the grassroots while putting smiles on their faces, which they said, has never happened in the history of Obio Offot.



The youth leader of Nung Mkpe, Mr Ukeme Francis, particularly thanked the Commissioner for bringing Voters’ Card and National Identity Card registration centres to the community, and also commended him for organising the just concluded Charles Udoh Unity Cup competition which, to a large extent, has empowered the youths of the community. He presented a plaque to the Information Boss.



They also poured encomiums on Governor Udom Emmanuel for his landmark achievements across the state within his three years in office.



Mr Charles Udoh, in his response, noted that he is not a commissioner for a particular set of people but for all, and urged the people to remain united and focused, saying that Governor Emmanuel is positively affecting the lives of the people.



He said the ongoing Town Hall meeting is to rub minds with stakeholders on how to move the community forward and drum up support for Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Mr Udoh offered appointment to a youth from Nung Mkpe as well as empowerment packages for the people including cash sums and other valuable items.



It would be recalled that the Information Commissioner, in the ongoing Town Hall meeting, had earlier visited Nung Akpan and Nung Oyo with various empowerment packages to the people.


The event had in attendance the Unit Head of Nung Mkpe, Political Leader of Obio Offot, Hon. Solomon Tom Udosen; Team Manager of Akwa United FC, Mr Emmanuel Udoh aka Bullet; Obio Offot Youth President, Comrade Inibehe Uko; Secretary, Mr David Etim; Woman Leader, Mrs. Theresa Akpan; former youth leader , Paulinus Okon, and family heads from the five units in Obio Offot among others.
