An Advertising and Communications expert and Group Managing Director of SO&U Limited, one of Nigeria’s most influential advertising agencies, Mr Udeme Ufot, has described Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, as the Chief Marketing Officer of the state, following his creative idea for the Dakkada initiative.

Mr Udeme whose SO&U group is affiliated to Saatchi & Saatchi, a global advertising agency, spoke during a live radio programme on the topic “Creativity and the Dakkada Philosophy” on Tuesday, disclosed that Gov Emmanuel is on a major industrialisation drive for Akwa Ibom State.

He expressed optimism that the vision of the Governor will transform the state to that magnet of industrialisation in no distance time, saying “There is nothing more powerful than a marketer being directly involved in championing what he is selling.

“Gov Emmanuel is the number one sales man who wrote the Dakkada creed by himself, and my job as an advertising and communications expert, was to structure that creed in a way that was much sellable.”

Also speaking on the programme was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Marketing and Brand Management, Mr Sam Edoho, who listed the four major pillars promoted by the Dakkada philosophy to include Hard Work, Entrepreneurship, Excellence and Integrity.

He said gone are the days when Akwa Ibom people were taken as house boys and house girls, and never-do-well set of people in the society, noting that the Dakkada philosophy of the Governor has changed the ball game, as those who those who had gone to other states, particularly Lagos to serve, have returned home, and Chinese firms coming into the state to invest.

Giving insight to Gov Emmanuel being the Chief Marketing Officer of the state, Mr Edoho disclosed that someone wanted to board a flight out of Akwa Ibom State, but was informed that the Arik Airline and Air Peace were fully booked, meaning that there was influx of people into the state during the Easter period to spend the holidays and enjoy the ambience of the state, as well as hospitality and the good infrastructure that the government has put in place.

Speaking further, he said Governor Emmanuel who was recently honoured with Integrity Award, which is one of the four pillars that Dakkada promotes, is leading and working the talk that is why things are branding and rebranding in the state.

“Akwa Ibom State is ranked second in attracting foreign investment into Nigeria for the benefit of Nigerians at large and Akwa Ibom people in particular, which are indications that Akwa Ibom State under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel, is on the right path.

“You may quarrel with human being but not with the path-changing and path-breaking innovations and achievements the person has brought. You can argue the process but you cannot dispute the result,” he concluded.

Mr Udeme, who was recently accorded the Honourable title during his 60th birthday, said that Gov Emmanuel is the best option for Akwa Ibom State, and charged every Akwa Ibom sons and daughters to shun social vices and rise to their faith of greatness, saying “All you need to succeed is in your hands and your head.”

He is famous in the advertising agency for that popular Guinness TV commercial “My friend Udeme is a great man”.
