Eket Stakeholders Reaffirms Support for Udom 2019

Stakeholders in Eket LGA have reaffirmed their support for the reelection of Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2019.

The decision of the stakeholders was made known in a meeting of PDP stakeholders, held at the instance of Senator Helen Esuene at her country home in Eket Local Government of Akwa Ibom State.

In an opening remark, Obongiwaad Emmanuel Mbong, the Eket chapter chairman of the PDP, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his prompt attention and focus in ensuring that the state is industrialized.

Mbong used the medium to explain the stance of the party in regards Eket State Constituency 2019 and the resolution reached in the presence of the Governor, His Excellency Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel a day before the meeting.

He stated that those agitating from the Okon geopolitical zone to succeed the incumbent are right, and those also agitating from Urban geo-political zone are right as well, by virtue of the constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria.

“Those agitating to succeed the house member from Okon geopolitical zone are right, those also agitating from urban axis are also right”

Mbong said that officially, the party has zoned the state constituency seat to Okon geo-political zone, but with a clause that permits any other aspirant from other geo-political zones with the political strength to also contest.

“The state House of Assembly Seat is officially zoned to Okon-Eket come 2019, but if you believe the zoning arrangement is not favorable to you, you can exercise your civil franchise”. Mbong said. In her speech, Senator Helen Esuene, expressed satisfaction in the turn out by stakeholders, she commended the entire party structure that ensured the emergence of Hon. Frank Archibong and Mr. Nsikak John as chairman and vice chairman of Eket LGA, as well members of the legislative council; A process she referred to as “peaceful and fair”.


Senator Esuene, a former minister of the federal republic whose return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was celebrated with ovations all over the state, thanked the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for the appointment of Mr. Nsudoh Nsudoh as permanent secretary.


Esuene seized the opportunity to appreciate Governor Udom Emmanuel for his financial management prudence, human capacity development and industrialization feat in the state since saddled with the mandate to govern.

Reaffirming her support to the party, the former senator reminded the stakeholders that in December 2017, the Eket people at a meeting of the stakeholders held in the residence of its leader, Chief Nduese Essien; after passing a vote of confidence on the Governor of Akwa Ibom State had adopted him as the sole candidate for the 2019 gubernatorial race hence the need to harnessed effort to actualize the collective dreams and visions meant to develop Eket LGA.


“We must join hands join hands and work as teams to return our governor for a second term to enable him complete his laudable projects” – she added


Corroborating the position of the chapter chairman, Barr. Akpadiaha Ebitu, State treasurer of the party said zoning of Eket State Constituency seat is officially zoned to Okon-Eket.

Barr. Ebitu maintained that it is obvious that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has become a religion in the state which he asserted that the central ( Presidency), will be recaptured by the PDP in 2019.


Ebitu while reacting to the decision of the host, Senator Helen Esuene, to return to Party said her political value and leadership expertise will help to expand the support base of the party.


Hon. Nduese Essien, a former minister and two term national lawmaker in his remarks applauded the Uche Secondus led National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).


He expressed disappointment over poor security surrounding the entire nation due to poor leadership of the Action Progressive Congress (APC).


Chief Essien, who doubles as the political leader of Eket Senatorial District said the reelection of Udom Emmanuel is the election of Eket Federal constituency, which must be achieved to ensure equitable sharing formula of eight years.


Reacting to the political atmosphere in Eket over zoning of Eket State House of Assembly, he succinctly explained to the stakeholders that the position is zoned to Okon-Eket for peace, equality and justice to prevail. Also speaking, the member representing Eket constituency seized the occasion to brief constituents on his legislative track records.


Hon. David Lawrence listed his achievements to include human capital development, construction of an ultra Morden Civic /ICT training centre, urua nka modern market, intervention projects, specialize skills training acquisition, enlistment of twenty five persons from Eket benefiting from his humanitarian services under his payroll to enable ameliorate poverty and crime.


The lawmaker thanked stakeholders for their supports and encouragement, stating that his remarkable legacies won’t have been made possible without their resolute support.


In a closing remark, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Brand Management And Marketing, Mr. Sam Edoho lauded the stakeholders on their various roles in canvassing support for the reelection of Governor Udom Emmanuel.


He urged every stakeholder to remain proactive in the course of ensuring victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming elections adding that the return of the former senator into the party is of immense great t to the family.
