“There will be no peace in Atibe village unless you give us Chief Unanaowo Udeme”, Atibe village will be on fire for wrong choice of village head.

He alleged the issuance of certificate was politically motivated.

Chief Unanaowo Udeme, Alleged Authentic Chief of Atibe Village

“The problem is that Chief Robson that was not recommended by Atibe village Council was issued the Village Head certificate. During the selection processes, Chief Unanaowo scored 5 votes while his counterpart, Robson scored 4.

“It is 9 family heads that voted for the two chiefs. Chief Unanaowo was selected by the Atibe village Council on the 17th Dec, 2014 and forwarded same to Eket Traditional Rulers Council (ETRC).

“Eket Traditional Rulers Council (ETRC), also recommended him (Chief Unanaowo) as the authentic village head of Atibe community,’’ he said.

Odunieyi further said that the State Traditional Rulers Council recommended Chief Unanaowo as the authentic village head.

“When this recommendation was sent to the office of the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Robson wrote a petition against the Paramount Ruler”

He stated further that the Commissioner forwarded the petition to the Traditional Rulers Council Disputes Committee, who later called the both and resolved through voting again, and Chief Unanaowo Udeme still won by 5 votes.

He called on the State Government to reinstate the authentic village head of Atibe village Council in the person of Chief Unanaowo Udeme Unanaowo for peace to reign in the community.

Chief Unanaowo, the alleged authentic Chief said that there is an obvious compromise in the State Traditional Rulers Council Disputes Committee.

Unanaowo Udeme stated that he had already petitioned Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State through his solicitors in regards this case that threatens the mutual existence of Atibe people in Eket Local Government.

He further stated that Robson came home bragging that Nsima Ekere gave the Secretary of the Disputes Committee, Mr. Leyn Uloh the sum of five hundred thousand to issue the certificate to him.

Reacting on the issue, the Chief who was issued the certificate, Chief Robson Unanaowo said, if they are not satisfied with his certification as the Village Head, they can go to court.

Stating his position on the issue, the Paramount Ruler of Eket, Edidem E.C.D. Abia, said the Eket Traditional Rulers Council had recommended the man Atibe Village selected, in the person of Unanaowo Udeme to the State council for certificate issuance.

“We had recommended the man that the Atibe village people recommended, which is Chief Unanaowo Udeme Unanaowo”

“He appeared before us and we knew that he was properly selected, and we recommended him to the State Traditional Rulers Council, but I was surprised that the certificate was issued to a wrong person”

“I have reported the case to State Council of the Traditional Rulers and the case is being investigated” He said.
