AKHA 2019:EKANEM WILLIE ENDORSED BY HIS HOMEFRONT AS THEIR SOLE CANDIDATE

The aspiration of Eket House of Assembly hopeful, Hon. Ekanem Willie yesterday received a major boost as his ward, Urban One in Okon Clan endorsed him as their sole candidate for the 2019 state constituency election.

The endorsements, which took place at Ikot Nsidibe village, one of the villages that constitute Urban ward one during his consultation visit to the Peoples Democratic Party.

In his speech, Willie stated that he had sat back and reconsidered the political history of Urban ward One in the geopolitical zone, and has realized that the ward is the most marginalized and oppressed in terms of political office occupancy.

Hon. Willie noted that Okon zone has 3 wards and from history, apart from Chief Inyang Udoh who became Chairman by appointment, no one in Urban 1 has ascended to any good position politically, which makes it pertinent for every Urban 1 indigene to rise and grab this opportunity to effect a change.

The One time vice Chairman of Eket Local Government said that zoning started in Eket in 1999 and Moses Ukpong of Blessed memory took only 4years, the Eket Central grabbed it from him and occupied for 8yrs. Urban collected it and are occupying it for 8years.

He said it will be very wrong for anybody to say that Moses had already taken turns, forgetting that Moses contested during the time of SDP, NRC, and as at that time Eket had 2 states constituencies; Urban and Central.

“Most of you don’t know these and you are sponsoring someone that doesn’t know. If you say Moses had contested, we had Lawson Nsima of blessed memory who also contested in Urban too”

“And we also had a chairman from Central in the person of Obong Samuel Atang” he added.

Willie however said that zoning is not thrift and has come to stay in PDP in Akwa Ibom while soliciting for urban one sincere supports and prayers to be in the state house of assembly.

“I have come to seek your support. I want to represent you, by the grace of God I should be your next State House of Assembly member.

“I have everything it takes to be in the state house of assembly, I will bring developmental projects to Urban one If I become your representative in the house of Assembly; of course you know charity they say begins at home.

“I know the problems of urban one and I want all of us to work together, your sincere support to me is supporting yourself, encourage me to be able to secure your name politically. I am going to the house of assembly to put the name of urban one in the political map,” Willie said.

Willie said, “It is not about your eloquence but all about facts, adding that we should elect someone that has the facts of the area at hand with a readymade mitigation strategy.
