Akwa Ibom Govt. sacks Doctor for stealing 6 hospital beds

The Akwa Ibom Government says it has sacked one Dr. Nwaopara A.U, former Consultant, Medical Superintendent of Psychiatric Hospital, Eket for stealing six hospital beds.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, disclosed this while addressing the Management and Staff of the hospital in Eket on Friday.
Ukpong said that the doctor stole the hospital begs October last year and carried it to his private hospital at Marina for his personal use.
“We have terminated the appointment of the doctor who stole hospital begs in Psychiatric hospital and turn it to his personal use.
“We certainly will not condone such attitude from any doctor. Can he do that in his place?
“I want to thank the management of the hospital for their cooperation during the investigations.
He asked, “should i go on my knees for the way I behave to some of you during the incident? “They all chorus, No.
Ukpong however, observed that Psychiatric hospital was one of the hospitals most neglected in the state.
“We are aware that the Psychiatric hospital is one neglected facilities in the state because the management can not go to talk for themselves but they are very important, ” Ukpong said.
The Commissioner outlined some of the challenges faced by the hospital to include expansion of the hospital, shortage of staff, zero subvention, no impress.
Ukpong thanked the Management of the hospital for their services to the state, noting that their services was special.
He reassured the Management that the state government would furnished the hospital very soon.
