Ahead of the December 2nd Local Government Elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Eket Chapter, joined by thousands of electorate defied rain yesterday as the party flagged off their ward tour/ campaigns.

The ward tour, which began from the palace of the Royal Father and Paramount Ruler of Eket, HRM ECD Abia after a royal blessing and prayers headed to the coastal area of Central 5 known as Nditia Peninsula.

Nditia Peninsula also known as Iko-Atai is one of the core oil producing communities, bordered by water, 4kms from Eket community, with no access road except through water, received the campaign team who had journeyed about 45mins under a very turbulent weather,expressing their appreciation that Nditia is remembered.

Speaking through their various representatives, they applauded the PDP for their consistency in upholding the zoning formula and also expressed optimism that in supporting Hon. Frank Archibong, they will have reasons to celebrate in the near future.

They also appealed to the incoming Chairman to drag the attention of the state government for the provision of access road to aid eradicate the menace of poverty that had eaten into the fabric of the community and also enable ease in livelihood.

Unveiling the brand and incoming Chairman of Eket Local Government (Hon. Frank Archibong), the state party chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, who was represented by Barr. Akpadiaha Ebitu, state treasurer of the party, said Frank Archibong is a known name in our political Clime that doesn’t play politics with campaign promises.

He emphasized that it was the last time the pdp will come to the village through boats for campaign, assuring them that if they vote Frank Archibong as Chairman, he will liaise with the state government to ensure the road to Nditia is constructed.

Speaking, Mr Archibong promised to use his personal funds to reactivate the faulty mini-water scheme in the community the next day, and also pledged his readiness to connect the community with the Agricultural development programmes of Governor Udom Emmanuel, adding that the era where Nditia was neglected by successive governments is over.

Archibong said, “to show you that Nditia is very dear to our hearts, we had to resist the storm and other obstacles to arrive here as our first port of call to flag off our local government ward to ward campaigns. I have taken delivery of your requests, be assured that I will not fail you.”

Nditia village together with Odio village make up ward 5, of Eket Central constituency.

The train later moved to Odio where the PDP Chairmanship Candidate in Eket local government area, Hon. Frank Archibong urged the people to remain resolute in supporting the Peoples Democratic Party and Governor Udom Emmanuel as the only person that will bring development to the area.

Hon. Archibong advised them not to be deceived as PDP remained the only party that has the interest of the people at heart.

According to him, “I urge you all to be resolute and more committed to the Peoples Democratic Party and Governor Udom Emmanuel.”

He encouraged the people of Odio to have confidence in the PDP Councillorship Candidate for Ward 5 Central, Emem Wilson who he said will represent the Ward well at the Eket Legislative Council and solicited for their vote for PDP on December 2 and for Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2019.

Archibong also advised the people to be wary of opposition who have nothing to offer than to deceive them.

Presenting the PDP Chairmanship Candidate to Odio people, the PDP State Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo who was represented by the State Treasurer of the party, Barr. Akpadia Ebitu urged the people to vote Frank Archibong as the man poised to bring development to the people.
