  • 17 Federal Agencies to Take Active Participation


The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology has indicated interest to partner with Enterprise Club of Nigeria, the official managers of Akwa Ibom Trade fair 2017 for the promotion of Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, MSMEs in the country.

The news of the Federal Government’s participation was contained in a Press Release signed and made available to the press by Mr. Leo Uttah, Head of Administration and strategy, Enterprise Club of Nigeria.
The 2017 edition of the annual Trade Fair with the theme: Empowering MSMEs: Panacea for Accelerated and Sustainable Economic Growth, scheduled to take place from November 20 to December 3, 2017 at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo and has so far secured the participation of both government and private business organizations around the country.
According to the release, the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology commends Enterprise Club of Nigeria, a Non Governmental Organization for their efforts towards the empowerment of Micro Small and Medium scale Enterprises in Nigeria, pledging that all the seventeen relevant agencies of the Ministry of Science and Technology will be instructed to take active participation in the Akwa Fair 2017.

The release further elucidates that the interest and participation of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, and by extension over seventeen Federal agencies under it, is a golden opportunity for the business community in Akwa Ibom state, trade unions and registered cooperative societies to attract the attention of the Federal Government to their products, trades and innovations.

In an effort to encourage participation, the Akwa Fair 2017 Managers also announces the extension of a 20 percent discount to registered business organizations including Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Market Unions, Traders Association, National Association of Small Scale Industrialist (NASSI).

Interested entrepreneurs and members of the public are encouraged to subscribe for their Trade Fair stands through , Uyo Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (UYOCCIMA) – Suit B/9, shopping Complex Centre, Ikot Ekpene Road Uyo, and Enterprise Club of Nigeria office at No. 51 Utang Street, Uyo.

In a related development, Chinese and Korean embassies in Nigeria are also said to have indicated interest in taking part in the upcoming trade fair in Akwa Ibom state to showcase the latest manufacturing equipments from companies of their countries.

This was the outcome of a meeting between the representatives of these embassies with the Management of Akwa Fair 2017, at the side lines of Lagos Trade Fair held early November in Lagos state before Akwa Ibom Fair which is scheduled to hold between November 20 and December 3 2017.

Breaking the news to our reporter through a phone text message, Mr. Michael Okon said that the Lagos Trade fair holding just before the commencement of the Akwa Ibom Trade Fair offered his team a huge opportunity to meet and secure the participation of both local and foreign investors, manufacturers and other stakeholders in the entrepreneurship circle to be part of the Akwa Fair2017.

Adding that manufacturers and major distributors of Mechanized Farming equipments, fashion designing machines, electronics and many more have already registered to participate in the technology conference and exhibition billed to take place during the fair, while the Bank of Industry(BOI) has also promised to make presentations on business financing solutions.
