A’Ibom@30: Marketing and Brand Mangement Directorate Unveils Initiative Achievements

The Directorate of Marketing and Brand Management, Akwa Ibom state has stated that the Dakkada initiative birthed by His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, has achieved the concieved objectives and aims.

This was made known by the SSA to the Governor on Marketing and Brand Management, Mr. Sam Edoho yesterday, during the Dakkada Business Forum Exhibition at the Ibom Hall Complex in Uyo.

The event, which was meant to mark the 2nd anniversary of the Dakkada philosophy of Governor Emmanuel and the 30th anniversary celebration of the state, with the theme “Celebrating the Spirit of Enterpreneur” brought A’Ibom’s livelihood independency to the fore.

Mr. Edoho in his opening remark, asserted that the Dakkada philosophy was through divine inspiration to re-awaken the spirit of enterprise and excellence in Akwa Ibom State.

He further stated that 2 years down the lane, the ideology has been recognized as the most succesful social reorientation campaign strategy in the country with sustaiable impacts.

He said the best way to empower a man is not by giving him money or food; but by empowering his mind and giving him a platform to build his dreams and create something he can call his own. 

The SSA boasted that the Directorate of Marketing and Brand Management, has utilized the various avenues of social interaction and empowerment schemes to reach out to our people, urging them to rise to the faith of greatness.

“At the beginning of this campaign, we went round the state unveiling the Dakkada Brand and we selected outstanding A’Ibomites and branded them Dakkada Ambassadors as a way of inspiring our people to aim to the top”

“As we speak, All A’Ibomites call themselve Dakkada Ambassadors, no one wants to be left behind” – he added.

Testimonies abound, as beneficiaries of this schemes exhibited their entrepreneurial creativities sponsored by the Dakkada initiative in the emporium. 

According to the Dakkada visioneer, Mr. Edoho, over five hundred (500) new enterpreneurs have been empowered with trainings and tutelage by the directorate.

He stressed that through the permission of His Excellency, Mr. UDOM EMMANUEL, the Dakkada multipurpose Cooperative Society, a direct economic empowerment initiative was formed across the 31 LGAs and later across all the wards in Akwa Ibom State.

He reiterated that the goverment had made available the sum of one million naira for each of the the cooperatives across the 31 LGAs for investment.

Edoho, stated that over eight thousand five hundred farmers have put on ground viable investment ranging from fish farming, palm fruit cultivation, palm oil processing and many other endeavours , and also attracted various opportunities to the people through firms like MTN who gave starter packs to 600 youths to start their telecommunications business, Nigerpet, Hensek and many more.

He emphasised that all the achievements would not have been possible if not for the proactive approach to governace and indepth entrepreneurial knowledge of His Excellency, Mr. UDOM Gabriel Emmanuel. 

The Dakkada brand meastro called on everyone to spread the good works that the governor is doing, by making themselves worthy ambassadors of the governor’s legacies spread across the state in Industrialisation, education, steady power supply, prompt payment of salaries, agricultural revolution and other developmental strides too numerous to mention.

In his remark, the Governor who was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Akan Okon, expressed appreciation to the directorate for living upto the envisaged expectation of providing requisite tutelage and encouragement to the young entrepreneurs. 

He emphasized on the need to create independency amongst the people by consistently empowering them with knowledge and encouraging them with startups packs to enable them grow.

The Governor doled out one million naira each  to the two awardees for their outstanding creativity and to further encourage them to expand their innovation.
