ESD ELDERS APPLAUD GOV. EMMANUEL’S DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Leaders from all the local government areas in Eket Senatorial District under the aegis of “Eket Senatorial District PDP Elders Forum” converged for a brain storming meeting yesterday in Eket.

The meeting with theme “Sustaining Development and Good Governance in Akwa Ibom State” meant to strengthen, promote and support the leadership dispositions of the Udom Emmanuel’s led administration, as proven in his managerial innovations, had 12 delegates drawn as representatives from the 12 local governments in the district, as well the PDP working committee members, state lawmakers and commissioners from the senatorial district.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Forum, Chief Ndueso Essien reminded the college of elders that the hallmark of the first Eighteen Months of the present administration was driven by sufficient distractions; election tribunal, Appeal and Supreme Court cases that were meant to impede good governance in the state.

Chief Essien stated that despite all the hiccups of the first two years, the Governor has been able to accomplish a giant stride in the provision of improved electricity supply to all parts of the State.

“For the first time in many years, some parts of the State are now enjoying uninterrupted power supply for 18hours beginning from Uyo, the State Capital. Two electricity Sub-Stations are now being built in Mkpat Enin and Oron. When these are completed they will relieve the load on Eket Station and thus provide lasting Solutions to the challenge of power supply in our Senatorial district.”

Essien, expressed satisfaction in the road infrastructural network, industrialization pursuit of His Excellency, which has resuscitated/sprouted several roads and industries across the state, and further applauded him for regular payments of salaries and his intervention to offset backlogs of retired workers entitlements.

The two time Federal legislator and Minister of the Federal Republic, Chief Ndueso Essien warned party leaders to ensure that as the guideline for the party will be released soon, those who emerge as candidates for the chairmanship and councillorship in all Local Government Areas should be meritorious and popular aspirants.

While urging all to support the consolidation of the Udom’s mandate, he thanked Uyo and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts for the support they have been giving to the Governor and appeal to them to exercise Patience and understanding as he continues to manoeuvre critics”‘ to be more constructive in their criticism and give maximum support during this period of governance.

In a goodwill message by the Transition Chairman cum ALGON Chairman, Mr. Frank Archibong, he said Governor Udom Emmanuel is a special brand that defy all odds even as a first-timer to be accepted by the South-South, South-East Governor’s forum as chairman.

Frank Archibong further stated that for Governor Emmanuel to be leader of the south east, south-south governor’s forum, it means his prowess as an economic expert is noticeable, and should be sustained  to deliver quality and monumental development till 2023.

On the other side, one of the G22 Governors, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, expressed satisfaction in the Governor’s performance, stated that ESD has supported people from Uyo/Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts to be Governor for 16years.

He emphasized that since one Local government has always in Akwa Ibom state, produced a Governor for 8years for the senatorial districts, ONNA in Eket Senatorial District will produce Governor Udom Emmanuel for 8years.

After thorough deliberation, the Forum resolved among other things, that with the sterling performance of the Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, he should be adopted for a second term in office as the sole PDP candidate from the district and was unanimously accepted by the Forum.

 

The meeting was well attended by dignitaries, which includes but not limited to; Chief Ndueso Essien, Dr. Esio Oquong Udoh, Chief Obot Etukafia, Barr. Akpadiaha Ebitu, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, Prof Peter Esu, Prince Chris Abasieyo, Dr. Samuel Udonsak, Mr. Benjamin Udobia, among other dignitaries.
