- As Group Fingers Elder Ezekiel Umoh of SUBEB as the procreator
As the preparations for the local government elections in Akwa Ibom State gets deep , Oniong East ward ward 111in ONNA L.G.A., are ready for a bloody inter-family post election war if Nung Ebienang family is allowed to produce the Councillorship candidate for the PDP for the Nov. 11 Local Government election.
This was made known in a petitioned letter dated 3rd August, 2017, addressed to the Governor, His. Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel by Ikwe Grassroots Initiatives and forwarded to this medium.
The group which is the voice of the Oniong East Ward 111, stated that it is oppressing and a voluntary act of molestation by the Nung Ebienang family on the other two families that constitute the ward, by hijacking the political sits accrued to the ward to their family alone over the years.
In their words, they said it will be very unfair to watch helplessly as their supposed brother (Nung Ebienang) spit on the faces of the Afaha and Ibekwe families, without any recourse to their wellbeing or existence.
To buttress their claims, the group announced that the Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Elder Ezekiel David Umoh, Ikwe Caretaker Committee Chairman, Pst. Victor Udofia and the CLO for VKS Construction, who was before now the Youth President of the village, Mr. Paul Sunday John are all from Nung Ebienang.
“While Nung Ebienang has repeated the Councilorship for four times, the other two families; Afaha and Ibekwehave only struggled to attend the councillorship for two times’
“Presently, the political Leader of Oniong East Ward 111 Ikwe, Elder Ezekiel David Umoh and the PDP ward Chairman, Ekam Tobby has compelled some people to sign a letter adopting an aspirants for the Ward against the zoning arrangement” the letter read in parts.
The group pleads with His Excellency to come to their aid as the supposed political Leader, Mr. Ezekiel Umoh is bent on causing trouble that will lead to chaos in the community before and after elections.
The unanimously agreed to revolt against any traits of impunity, tyranny, victimization and oppression mete on them by the political leader and his accomplices.
