All seems not to be well in the camp of the All Progressive Congress (APC) since the Supreme Court gave Markarfi led faction of the PDP victory, the Peoples Democratic Party (nationwide) is witnessing a swell in grassroots support as opposition members say no to APC’s Change.

In Eket Local Government Area (Ward 2 Central), hometown of the former Federal legislator/ minister, Chief Ndueso Essien, TC, Hon. Frank Archibong, no fewer than 100 members of the APC, who happen to be the progenies of an All Progressive Congress (APC) stalwart, Hon. Etebong Harry defected with him back to the Peoples Democratic Party yesterday.

The defectors who were received at Ikot Ibiok primary school by the Chapter Chairman, Obong Iwaad Emman Mbong, TC, Hon. Frank Archibong and a cross section of PDP Exco’s, stakeholders and supporters, had an unprecedented reception that signaled a laudable “NO” to APC’s existence in the LG.

According to the former APC’s stalwart, Hon. Etebong Harry, who led the delegation of defectors, he accused the APC of inflicting pains on the people with their unfulfilled promises and deceitful leadership exhibition, with no clue of the economy resuscitation.

He claimed that after sampling party’s insertions in governance, it was certain that the PDP is the only party that can guarantee the people of democratic dividend and not the APC.

Harry noted that APC is an eminent eruptive volcano that will leave no residue on explosion.

Reacting to the development, The Chapter Chairman, Obong Iwaad Emman Mbong said that the defection is a victory song for the party.

“There is no grievance that cannot be resolved amicably between two brothers. What you are seeing today is a sign that there is no opposition party in Eket.”

“This is just the beginning; all the aggrieved members are willing to come back. By next week we are gathering in another ward to receive our brothers and sisters back to the party”- Mbong added.

In His response, the Transition Chairman who also doubles as the Algon Chairman, Hon. Frank Archibong said he was so impressed by what he was seeing today.

He described the former APC stalwart as a thorough, disciplined and a well-bred politician, who left a vacuum in the party when he defected to the APC, going by his antecedents and political strength.

Archibong said that his return has given the party in the ward and chapter a conviction of successes in upcoming elections.

The Algon Chairman stated that there is a need for party supporters to preach peace among those aggrieved as the Governor, Mr. UDOM Gabriel Emmanuel is doing across the shores of the state.

He stressed that there wouldn’t have been a better Governor for Akwa Ibom like His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel in this time of recession, assuring the people that the Governor is focused in the development of Eket.

“Let us all stand up for peace in the party. The party has suffered a lot in time recent. The Supreme Court gave us a verdict to liberate Nigerians from the hands of their captors (APC), and we can only do that if we bring back those who had left because of impunity back to the party”

“Tell them this is a new PDP. In this PDP there is no impunity, no imposition, no intimidation or oppression. Tell them in this PDP everything is through due process”

“ “Governor Emmanuel is an essential need of the people, if in two years he can do all we have seen, what will happen after 8years?”

“We will do everything within our powers to ensure that Udom is reelected in 2019” Frank boosted.
