2019: Udom Is Not an Option but a Necessity – AKS ALGON Chairman

The caretaker committee Chairman of Eket Local Government / ALGON Chairman, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. (Pst.) Frank Archibong, stated that the continuous support for the actualization of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s second term bid in 2019 should not be seen as an option but a necessity, if Akwa Ibom must continue to enjoy true dividend of governance during and after recession.

The ALGON Chairman made this known on Monday when he played host to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter in his office, and the flag-off of Skills Acquisition empowerment scheme for women in the council hall.

In his welcome speech during the courtesy call, Frank thanked the leadership of CAN for their support towards the growth of Udom’s administration by their unceasing intercessory prayers and fruitful Christian engagements. Noting that as a politician, in his very short life, he has never seen a Governor, who is so committed, devoted and passionate about the works of God like Deacon Udom Emmanuel.

 “I know God is using Udom to reshape Akwa Ibom. People see how things move positively in Akwa Ibom amidst penury and hostility, some people begin to wonder how he does it, it is not by his powers, might; I believe it is by the grace of God, because he references Him at all times. We in Eket have no choice but to see Udom as a necessity till 2023” – Frank asserted.

The CAN Chairman of Akwa Ibom state, Rev. Ndueso Archibong, in his address said that the visit was to identify with the leadership of Eket Local Government, and to create a reminder that the Christian Association of Nigeria existed.

Rev. Ndueso described the leadership of Udom Emmanuel to be pragmatic, resolute and focus, and as one that is guided by God, believing that it is only God that can give such intellect to a leader to enable him paddle the affairs of the state even in the face of obvious economic challenges.

He frowned frantically at those trying clandestinely to Islamize Nigeria, stressing that we in Akwa Ibom should proffer ways by law that will aid check the sporadic purchase and domination of our land by foreigners, whose intent is only focused on perpetuating their evil agenda in our land.

 In the same page, Hon. Frank while flagging- off the skills Acquisition empowerment program, meant to train women in bead making, hair styling, head-tie proficiency, cake baking, soap making, etc. in the local government, described the scheme to be in tandem with the Dakkada initiative of His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel.

He stated that his administration will not continue in impoverishing the lives of the people by the consistent, conventional style of giving fishes rather, creating a future where everyone will be able to earn a living through the works of their hands; assuring the beneficiaries that the scheme will not just train, but will provide financial support to assist in production, and a conducive environment for the produce to thrive in the market.

Hon. Archibong, affirmed that the “UDUA AFFIONG ETUK” that was demolished by the state government for the purpose of Eket-Urban beautification is under construction, while construction is yet to commence on the proposed Eket- Ultramodern Market, assuring that all modalities for the commencement of the said construction has been made.

While thanking His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel and wife, Mrs. Martha Emmanuel, for their 21st century initiative of empowerment i.e. FEYREP and DAKKADA, the  ALGON Chairman beckoned on all, to support the ideology of FEYREP and DAKKADA that is set to quell idleness and inferiority amongst the people, stressing that it is only through skills acquisition that the populace can garner technicality and working prowess, which will help them to be independent and financially capable to carter for their wellbeing with or without any other support.
