Troubles of the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke are yet to be over as the Federal Government on Thursday slammed a fresh criminal charge against him. Also charged is the former Minister of Petroleum, Dan Etete and nine others before an Abuja High Court over alleged role in the $1.1 billion Malabu oil deal.
It would be recalled that the Federal government had recently filed a criminal charge against Adoke and Etete at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
However, in the fresh suit, the government named: Shell Nigeria Exploration production Company Ltd, Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited, Aliyu Abubakar, ENI SPA, Ralph Wetzels, Casula Roberto, Pujatti Stefeno, Burrafati Sebestiano and Malabu Oil and Gas.
In the fresh charge marked CR/124/17, signed by FG’s prosecution lawyer, Mr. Johnson Ojogbane, the defendants fingered for conspiracy contrary to Section 26 of the Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 12 of the same Act.
In the particulars of offence the defendants were alleged to have sometime 2011 in Abuja conspired among themselves to commit a felony to wit official corruption and thereby commuted an offence
In count two, the defendants were accused of official corruption contrary to Section 9 of the Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 9(b) of the same Act.
In the particulars of offence, the defendants were accused to have in 2011 corruptly received the aggregate sum of 801 million dollars in relation to the grant of Oil Prospecting Licence on respect of the OPL 245 from Shell Nigeria
