Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Marked for demolition by Akwa Ibom Government

In other to avert another church mishap, the Government of Akwa Ibom State has ordered for a building belonging to the Redeem Christian Church of God to be demolished in Uyo.

The building estimated to worth several millions of naira became a source of concern for the government after the ill-fated Reigners Bible church collapse that claimed several lives and many injured on December 10, 2016.

The state government who ordered the demolition stated that the church erected the building without obtaining government permit.

The government further stated that the building was raised on a land prone to a landslide and poses serious threat in the near future.

Reacting to the earmarked church for demolition, the director of town planning, Mr. Effiong Akpan according to Premium Times confirmed that they were set for pull down the structure.

He however stated that there were other churches whose structures lack government building permit and will be demolished accordingly.
